What size prints & file sizes?
What Optical Resolution Film Scanner should I buy? The higher the optical resolution the larger the prints to retain quality. For 35mm film, an 1800dpi film scanner gives high quality A5 maximum size (8.7" x 5.7") prints; a 5400dpi film scanner gives high quality A3 maximum size (25.9" x 17.1") prints. With higher resolution you can still crop the film and get a high quality print.
For 35mm film, an 1800dpi film scanner gives 13MB file size; a 5400dpi film scanner gives 234MB file size.
